we all have those who influenced you, inspired you, took you seriously, became your teachers, mentors, friend and colleagues..we should never forget these people...

i believe i had the absolute best..

at a time when i ached to be an actor, to be in the theatre, the 'industry', to write...

i went backstage at russell street theatre in melbourne [now demolished, but the echoes shall ricochet endlessly], it was my grail - the melbourne theatre company - 'mtc' - i was brave, in my last years of high school, and a bit cheeky..but my heroes of the stage opened their arms and I'd sit on a stool at the back of the theatre and soak it up, then spend hours in the dressing room, up the creaky stairs, talking talking and in heaven.

forever with me: rene inescort - astounding actress, jennifer claire - ditto, simon chilvers, actor/director - became a great friend and then one day directed me several times - never in my dreams...freddie parslow - actor, naughty man, gave me wines!

   simon hopkinson - writer's champion

great guy, welcomed me to the fraternity

that was the melbourne theatre company

youth theatre - sheer bliss for me...

there are others...some you may know or have heard of, others maybe not so: roger lemesurier - producer, denise morgan - writer, don battye producer, who and gave me my first writing gig with crawford productions, allan babbage - director, peter narroway - composer...allan and peter gave me the gig that catapaulted my life into the victorian opera company, and last, but certainly not the least - my truly greatest teacher - lindsay kemp...

bless you each and everyone...always...

i'm passing it all on....

the list could go on: betty druitt - wardrobe mistress extraordinary, who taught me how to revive elastic with steam... lloyd casey - stage manager, roland rocchiccioli - senior stage manager mtc...a great protector of his crew...allen mcbride - asm then stage manager, mtc - maestro of efficiency and 'sorted' - the greatest ally anyone could have....

wendy robertson - teacher of movement...graeme pearl - who taught me everything i know about the alexander technique...graham clarke - voice teacher with the mtc - a vocal genius...john sumner - founder and artistic director of the mtc - who gave me a contract, and had the vision to appoint teachers to his company...

ray lawler - writer, director - gave me my first gig at the mtc, as cuthbert in once a catholic - i'm sure ray wanted me to convert as i sang, in latin,  the credo...

and then..

jonathan hardy...actor, writer, director, teacher - an astonishment of a human being...now on his cloud, and in my heart...

and..
