is a Director & Writer of Theatre and Film. Prior to ‘putting indefinitely on-hold’ his acting career, he was highly acclaimed for his work and garnered many accolades and awards for both theatre and film, including a Best Actor nomination from British Vogue for his performance as Jock in the Zenith (Channel 4) Phillips/Whitehouse TV Series, Heart of the High Country. 

he is also an acting coach and teacher of some repute. He was Guest Director and Artist in Residence to James Cook University and taught across all years: Improvisation, Shakespeare and Alexander Technique. His Intensive Masterclasses for professionals and emerging professionals - THE SACRED PLAYGROUND are renowned.

 

internationally, he is widely known as a Script Doctor, particularly adaptation from stage or novel to film, and is a regular assessor for many funding bodies.

 

with Shaun Charles, he was Co-Artistic Director of RENEGADE Inc. an Australian, Brisbane-based theatre company which was dedicated to the development and production of new writing - work to which he is still deeply committed.  With Executive Producer Defrim Isai,  Dave was Vice President of Brisbane Independent Filmmakers, an indie film, grass roots support organization.

he has written iconic Australian cop shows Homicide and Division Four, screenplays, theatre - as well as several opera & music theatre works.

his most recent film WEDNESDAY is written by Miles Franklin Award Winner, Andrew McGahan. Other films include THE TOUCH and WISHBONE. He is currently in development of the feature A TREE FALLING to star Greta Scacchi, and written with Academy Award Nominee and Taormina Festival Winner, Jonathan Hardy.

 

his most recent theatre productions are “A Tree, Falling” by Ron Elisha, “Rio Saki and Other Falling Debris” by Shaun Charles, “Renaissance” by Ron Elisha, “Points of Exit” by Loubna Haikl on the terrors of Interfaith and the destruction of Palestine. He is Patron to Pigs Fly Productions Inc. a regionally based Indie Theatre Company, in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia.
